Happy New Year Greetings, All!
This is the time of year for making resolutions and goals and reflecting on where we are in life. It is no different for those of us on the Board of the Institute. As we look back on this fifteen-year experiment, it is hard to believe that so much time has passed---and that we have graduated so many remarkable members. Our program has grown as has our gratitude for the members and our supporters. We have seen the remarkable things our members have done and continue to do and we have been so proud of the support each of you have given to other members of the Institute as they reach out into new territory.
When we started, our goals were simple: to help our members understand their full potential, to remove self-imposed barriers to new challenges, and to encourage them to risk. You have fulfilled our mission....and we have been rewarded many times over by getting to know you and to watch you test your wings!
Thank you for sharing your successes and failures....but more importantly, thank you for trying....and thank you for helping others try. You are a remarkable group of women and we are very proud of you all.
May your new year bring you happiness. God bless!
Each newsletter we will hear from a Committee Chair. This newsletter the column is from Lisa Griffin, Chair of the Members Committee:
Happy New Year, everyone! Last year, the Class of 2014 had much to celebrate when we graduated from the Institute and were able to join the ranks of the amazing women who graduated in the classes before us! It was a memorable journey that gave us the tools we needed to advance in our careers and gave us the bonus of new friendships.
In the Fall of 2014, the new class began their journey. It was an honor to meet each of them and speak to the class about the importance of “making the ask.” No matter where we are in our careers or in life, we are often faced with new, intriguing opportunities. Change can be scary and uncomfortable, but when it becomes clear that one opportunity is the direction we will want to take, we must find the courage to go after and ask for what we want. The reward could be greater than we could ever imagine.
One of my best friends always says that we must continue to strive for growth. I believe that the Institute provided us all with the incredible opportunity to learn from Speaker Davidson, Betty, and the many talented professionals that graciously took the time to speak to us. It is my hope that in 2015, we all continue to grow and “make the ask” for what we want!
